Developed by Incognito Entertainment and produced by SCEE, Warhawk i san online action game, in fact the game has only got the multiplayer part, leaving behind the chance of having a background plot. Warhawk has been a try for Sony to show its free online service skills. Warhawk offers several game modes, up to 32 players, split into teams. In this game we’ll take part in bloody wars between just 2 factions.
GAMEPLAY
As it has not any single-player mode, and any places where to fight, challenges will happen in some “ad hoc” maps. We’ll have 5 maps at our disposal; they will be likely to change their size in relation to the players’ number; fights will happen “on the ground”, helped by cars, tanks or, as in the most classic shooters with rifles, guns etc., or “in the air” using the so-called "WARHAWKS". Airplanes can be flown by the usual analogical levers of the PS3 joypad, but if you’re looking for an advanced difficulty level, you can even activate the SIXAXIS movement sensor, perfectly integrated in this kind of games. The graphic interface of this game is simple and notional just like its commands, you’ll take a little to settle in and start enjoying from the very beginning. A trophies and listing system will turn our victories and records from numbers into acknowledgments and prizes. In fact, increasing our own degree, we can unlock many skins for our airplane and dresses for our character, so we can distinguish from the other players. Being an online game, its longevity is infinite, and, by new expansion packs (the last of which is "Omega Dawn Booster Pack"), you can add new maps and vehicles. By the split-screen you can play with up to 4 players with a single console.
GRAPHIC
Graphically, Warhawk is not the game you’d trumpet for being the best one, but has a captivating graphic interface and fit to the game style. Characters’ models have as basis just 5 different characters, that can be customized with several dresses, by increasing your degree. Airplanes’ models, instead, are some very masterworks, and textures and reflective surfaces make these aircrafts almost real. Maps are quite rich in details but don’t surely enjoy high-level textures, though there is a lot of choice of setting. In the end, the game passes very well through the sufficiency. Vote: 7.5/10.
AUDIO
The soundtrack in this game is only limited to one background music during the pause menus, as during the match the music will disappear, leaving space for noises, much more appropriated for a war. Explosions and shooting are played not in a realistic way, let’s just say that, under this point of view, the game does not excel, even if it offers a multi-channel audio.
CONCLUSIONS
Warhawk is available in two versions, a downloadable one from the Playstation store, and the other one for 49,99€ on a blue-ray disc, including of Bluetooth earring. The game centers the main target, which is the one to enjoy, with a simple and intuitive approach and will make the players have fun since the first moments. Maybe, the lack of a tutorial or a guide in the downloadable version, can make you doubt but the very competitive price can make these doubts vanish for an infinite game; so, if you’re lovers of this genre, Warhawk can’t be the missing one in your videogames collection. |
