Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, developed by NAUGHTYDOG, famous to have given born to sagas like such as Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter, takes on the next-gen Sony console a genre that was missing for a long time: the action-adventure. In Uncharted we’ll be playing Nathan Drake, a speleologist, looking for Ser’s treasure. Francis Drake, one of his ancient progenitors, a search that will make him faces every kind of dangers. GAMEPLAY Uncharted is an old-style action-adventure game, that alternates exploration phases (a little too linear, to say the truth) and action moments, in which we’ll be facing a horde of prowlers, seeking for the treasure too. Controls are easy and intuitive, in the exploration phases; Nathan will have to use his own strength and ability by climbing on some rocks and jumping from one ledge to another. In the action phases, instead, Uncharted Drake's Fortune gets nearer to a real shooter; Nathan will have to protect behind some repairs he can find in the surrounding area (as in the famous Gears Of War) to then precisely shoot and put out of the game the enemies he’ll be facing. Fire shooting can be “thoughtful” for starters, but once gotten friendship with controls, you’ll see how easy it is to kill the enemies. Nathan, during the developing of the game, will also have to solve some little enigmas, not too complex to go on with his adventure. AUDIO Naughtydogs gave this game an epical and evocative soundtrack that will drive the player during the whole adventure. Music will be totally able to underline the moments of a new discover or the starting of fire shooting. Main characters’ dialogues are perfectly dubbed into Italian with a good interpretation level, in the cut-scenes, together with a good direction; it’ll almost look like watching a movie. A little too repetitive, instead, are the exclamations and voices of the enemies, which still don’t affect the final vote. GRAPHIC Uncharted is a real wonder to the eyes. Setting like jungle and the ruins we’ll be seeing are majestically represented, a very good lighting makes the place we’ll be visiting even more real. Uncharted is a sequence of surprises, it’s beautiful to see a character falling into water and get out of it totally wet in such a realistic way, amazing is the realization of the jungle, true and real top of this game. Main characters are well featured, enemies are quite good made, but with a good range of characters’ models. Still, Uncharted is not totally good, as you can notice some little delay in texture loading at the beginning of the stage, once loaded the game, which is not to be found during the passage from one chapter to another one. Besides some very good making textures, there are some less defined textures, but, on the whole, Uncharted remains one of the best visual impact games in this next-gen.CONCLUSIONS Uncharted Drake's Fortune is a title that owners of the previous Sony’s console can’t let go. Adventure and action with some news is what has been missing from videogames world for a while; NaughtyDog hit the mark by giving us a wonderful adventure you’ll be able to complete in a dozen hours. But, don’t you worry, even if twelve hours look few, Uncharted has many secrets to be unlocked and medals to be won, living the game a good longevity level. |
