In the chaotic world of mercenaries, dealers and armed militias of Far Cry 2 you will be immersed in a sea of strategic alliances and betrayals. Despite all the decline of characters and faces you’ll meet during your journey, the true Star of the game, the real main character is the Africa. The landscape of 50 square km, perfectly virtualized, offers not only sunsets like but also an incomparable field of battle. The scenarios changing and numerous, adapt time to time to your arsenal, giving you the full freedom of choice on how to face each mission. Combined with a solid multiplayer, the extent of action of Far Cry 2 provides you with much more of a reason to stay immersed for hours in the African wild lands. Despite the often slow plot make the things a bit boring.

The plot has without doubt his potential. You are a mercenary that works for a customer, which sent you in an unnamed African nation, devastated by civil war, still in place, with the task of bringing home a known trafficker of weapons known as "the Jackal". From now on you’ll learn that your objective is a very particular person, you need, in fact, to be working on some military forces to be able to trace their supplies of arms to get your Man. The two main military organizations that own the territory are the militaristic UFLL and the revolutionaries APR. You’ll spend the most of your time working for the two factions, learning about their military structures, and executing each task that they will be allocated. Each mission in Story mode can be played in many ways. There are 12 characters that you will meet randomly during the course of the game. Nine of which you can choose as "characters silent" for you to accompany all the way. These characters represent an alternative way of completing your missions. If, instead of shaved to the ground a target you will be working side by side with your companion to acquire every possible harbour from your enemy before kill him, you'll get extra bonus reputation points. also the possibility of increasing the level of your "friendship" with that character. But this is only one of the aspects of the game. This game must and can be played with extreme caution, in the less possible to not remain involved in one or the other faction.

Even if disappointing from the point of view of the single-player campaign, that could bring by more than 25 hours of your time, the shortcomings of the weft are partly high for the excellent overall result obtained in the game. The game is structured in such a way to leave you a wide freedom of exploration, gain currency and destruction of the landscape. Giving a quick glance at your map you will notice several points that have been reported with icons that represent as many missions that you can bring to term with different rewards. In addition to these there are dozens of missions ancillary linked to the first. Deliver of extradition documents to refugees trapped and you will obtain medicines for malaria, destroy the convoys of weapons enemies and you will unlock the acquisition of new weapons, and carrying out the murder of unknown characters will reward you with diamond. You can also exploit the fields of the militias for the storage of your weapons and for the Save games. The Diamond will acquire new weapons and new skills while medicines ease your illness.

The freedom of this game is not only about choosing a mission, but also how you’ll complete your tasks. There are many factors that will affect the outcome of your mission, the number of people that you should kill, the landscape, the climate and the precise time of implementation. If your task is killing a single character in a field of the militias situated in a dense jungle, you will wait in your safe house the decline of the night to draw you close silently and execute your order. If instead is a day of wind and you wipe out an entire outpost enemy, you can your fire with your flamethrower and whether the wind ports fire until the military camp, you can then destroy the last enemies were left with your sniper according to a safe distance. To all this it must add the vastness of weapons at your disposal, the choice of these, influence as said, the mission and is often preferable buy them new than taken them second-hand by the enemies.

The graphics is impressive. The representation of the desert Africa is excellent in every detail. Different landscapes are prestigious made: thick forests, vast plains arid deserts, rocky mountains, and huts and villages. You will see the trees swing to the passage of the wind, the remains of a burned bush, and various forms of wildlife around. All becomes even more spectacular during the twilight or at sunset, when the pale light of the sun is approaching or farther away. Also the sound of the game is good enough, with a tribal soundtrack that accompanies you for all the game, with a music ambience for moments of quiet and a crescendo of drums during the battles.

To finish up, of Far Cry 2 is certainly a game that will make you lose in the immense Africa for several hours. Of course the plot could be better and the characters could have a more defined mood, but in the complex is a game that we suggest.
